The Year of the Dog
3rd February, 2019 @ 11.22 am
The Year of the Dog is the eleventh sign in the Chinese Zodiac Calendar. The years of the dog are 1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018, 2030, etc. As per one legend; the monkey, rooster and dog were fighting evil spirits in another country for a certain God. When the Jade emperor announced the race whose finishing point had to be reached by crossing a great river, the monkey, rooster and dog started the race together and arrived at the finishing point at the same time. So the Jade emperor could not decide to whom the 9th, 10th, and 11th positions should be offered. So he decided to check who reached the God in the other country first and based on that the monkey came in 9th, rooster came in 10th, and the dog came in the 11th position in the Chinese Zodiac calendar.
Many people born in the year of the dog are named Wàng Cái which comes from the dog’s barking sound wàng wàng. The name also means “prosperous wealth.” So next time you meet a Wàng Cái, you know the person was born in the year of the dog.
One of the most prominent traits of the people born in the year of the dog is their loyalty and they never let down the people who believe in them. They are great at advising people and that is why everybody loves a dog person to have as a friend. As loyal as they are, they are equally honest and trustworthy. They are also known for their intelligence and outspokenness. They are attractive, easy going, and have great willpower. On their negative side, they can get anxious, lazy, stubborn, and quarrelsome, but with their willpower they can overcome all of this.
When it comes to dog’s fashion sense, although they love minimalism, they still want an edge to it. They are however not afraid of experimenting with bright colours. To suit the style sense of the people born in the year of the dog comes this amazing pair of dark indigo denim jeans from RMC Jeans. It is minimalistic but yet has an awesome edge to it. This pair of authentic raw selvedge denim jeans is given a beautiful oriental touch with an exceptionally well-crafted hand embroidered patron deity of the people born in the year of the dog, Amida Nyorai or Amida Buddha on the back pockets.
On one of the pockets is the beautifully embroidered image of Amida Buddha sitting in a meditative pose the Padmasana. He is the Buddha of infinite light and life and the lord of the afterlife. He is seen sitting on a lotus, which holds a lot of significance in Buddhism and is regarded as a symbol of enlightenment. He is covered in a golden robe and has a golden halo behind him. The embroidery is so excellently done that even the peace on the face of the Buddha is clearly visible. Since Amida Buddha is the lord of the afterlife, there are nine different levels or grades of life that people are born into and each level is indicated by a different mudra that the Buddha is holding. In this particular design, the Buddha is holding a mudra known as Jōbon Jōshō or the Upper Upper Birth, which is the best type of birth to be born in. On the other pocket is the Kanji word which represents Amida Buddha.
This pair of RMC Year of the Dog Jeans will be an exclusive as well as an important addition to the wardrobe of the people born in the year of the dog.
