The first thing that comes to mind when the words “Hip Hop” fall on the ears are visions of fast-paced music, rappers spinning bars, rhymes, swear words, baggy pants, funky t-shirts, bling and of course, drugs. This is the way this very remarkable part of popular culture is usually perceived. There are a lot of stereotypes that come associated with Hip Hop hence the true meaning of this popular lifestyle has been lost. At its core, Hip Hop is all about human expression through Rapping, a great mix of musical beats and art. New York City, USA is predominantly considered to be the birthplace of Hip Hop culture. Believe it or not, this very misunderstood culture is actually made up of values of Love, Unity, and passion. But with time it has gone on to garner a negative image that sticks with it even to this day.
Fashion is a very integral part of Hip Hop culture. This very unique and different style came into being from a passionate desire. The musicians who spearheaded the growth of Hip Hop into a global culture wanted to look different. Everything about Hip Hop inspired fashion seems to be screaming at the top of its lungs to be noticed. But the undeniable truth is that despite being loud and flashy, it is beautiful in its expression and form factor. Innovation, adaptation and a resourceful approach to daily dressing have given Hip Hop inspired fashion its identity. The most iconic of them all are the baggy jeans and the hoodie, both of which are basically comfort clothing, apparel that you would wear when your mind is at ease and you just want to chill out.
Making something fabled out of ordinary things shows signs of genius. This is what Hip Hop fashion is all about. Making something cool out of things that are simple, ordinary and most importantly, inexpensive! So youngsters who began to accept this culture decided to keep things simple and to give these ‘simple things’ lively colours, artwork and text-based graphic messages. This resulted in Hip Hop culture spreading out into worldwide fame.
At RMC Jeans, our vision and goals are deeply inspired by the youthfulness, ingenuity, creativity and the unapologetic style of Hip Hop culture. Our collection of embroidered denim jeans are a testament to this lifestyle. Since we are driven by our own desire to look different in the way we create men's clothing items, we decided to turn to Oriental Culture for influence. Founded by Martin Ksohoh, a fan of Hip Hop music, RMC Jeans is the result of the culmination of Hip Hop culture, Oriental artwork, and Vision.
